A traditional waterfall IT team setup meant there was scope to improve processes and technology.
The clients requirements were to host instil a DevOps culture to new projects to help a collaborative delivery across the organisation.
Phase 1 – to help staff understand what the DevOps mindset is and how automation helps.
Phase 2 – Show case some tools which help with Azure automation.
We created a collaborative forum to discuss and improve ways of working and tried to help the common issues by trying to use the Atlassian tools to help collaboration.
Show cased Terraform and Packer, with windows containers to help the team with automation.
Terraform & Terragrunt with Microsoft Azure worked very well. We created everything from subscriptions to infrastructure using Terraform.
A layered AMI approach to allow patching, application builds to be as fast and painless as possible. This was well received by the team as they saw the benefits of Windows Servers being built without needing WSUS.
